It鈥檚 time to transform medical education. 果酱视频鈥檚 School of Medicine is being designed to shift the paradigm of healthcare delivery and improve the well-being of individuals, families and communities. The school will train a new generation of physicians who are ready to learn, to adapt, and ultimately to be agents of change.

Work across the School of Medicine will be supported by its Section of Community, Culture and Belonging to ensure a focus on Black community health, Indigenous community health, anti-racism (including anti-Black racism, anti-Asian racism, anti-Indigenous racism, anti-Semitism and Islamophobia), anti-ableism, disability inclusion and universal design, anti-homophobia and transphobia, to create a positive health environment for LGBTQ2SI+, and to serve and work in partnership with historically under-represented and under-served communities as a positive space.

Brampton/Peel and its surrounding communities, are part of the Treaty Lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit.  We acknowledge that these lands are also the shared space of Anishinabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, Ojibway/Chippewa and M茅tis peoples.

The Opportunity

The Associate Program Director, PGME - Internal Medicine, supports the overall conduct and organization of the residency program within the 果酱视频 School of Medicine (SoM) postgraduate medical education (PGME) Section as a member of the SoM clinical faculty, working in close collaboration with the Internal Medicine Program Director to ensure the program's structure and function align with the policies and standards of the PGME Office. Together with the Program Director, they maintain accountability for the overall integrity of the residency program in accordance with all accreditation standards mandated by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). They work to advance the SoM鈥檚 commitments to generalism, equity, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring that the program鈥檚 residents receive a high-quality educational experience that meets or exceeds applicable accreditation standards.

Qualifications

Minimum level of education and specialty/discipline required

  • Completion of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent medical degree.
  • Completion of a Master鈥檚 in Education or equivalent qualification in educational program or curricular development (e.g. an area of focused competence in the Clinician Educator program) is preferred.
  • Must have or be eligible for an appointment to the 果酱视频 Clinical Faculty at the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor or higher;
  • Must hold or be eligible to hold an appointment at a 果酱视频 medicine-affiliated clinical partner institution or academic health centre.

Minimum number of years and type/area of experience required given minimum education requirement

  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience as a member of a School of Medicine clinical faculty or as a senior resident with a clinical educator portfolio,
  • Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience in medical education or health care environment. 

Required certifications, designation or licences to complete the key responsibilities of the position

  • Physician in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and active membership with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or equivalent.
  • Must hold a valid and current license to practice medicine in Ontario issued by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). 

Required skills and/or demonstrated knowledge

  • Superior conceptual, problem solving and oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent knowledge of the principles and theory of adult education at local, national and international levels;
  • Knowledge of best practices related to strategic program planning and implementation
  • Analytical reasoning skills;
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to confidently engage and deliver presentation to small and medium-sized groups;
  • Creative, strategic and an innovative thinker;
  • Demonstrates agility in working in a fast pace and collaborative team environment;
  • Ability to establish and maintain multi-sectoral relationships (i.e., across university, hospitals, provincial Ministries and other stakeholders).
