Graduate Student Family Award
The Graduate Student Family Award was created by the Nabi and Sakina Family Foundation in 2025 to provide financial and moral support for high-performing graduate students from any program in the Yeates School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (YSGPS) who are experiencing financial need and who are raising young children while completing their graduate studies.
The expendable funds will provide 1 annual award of $5,000 commencing in the 2026/2027 academic year for 5 years. Funding for the award will be confirmed annually in June and will be made available to eligible students in the Fall.
Results will be announced mid-November.

To be eligible for this award, applicants must:
- Be a graduate student.
- Be enrolled in a full-time graduate program.
- Be in clear academic standing.
- Demonstrate financial need as determined by the university.
- Meet a minimum CGPA of 3.67 (A-) or students entering the 1st year of graduate studies must
- have achieved a first-class (equivalent to an "A-") average (as determined by the host
Applicants must provide a 250-word written statement detailing the impact of raising children under 12 years old while they pursue graduate studies, and how this award would positively impact their educational journey and family goals. Eligible applicants must be raising young children (under 12) while completing their graduate studies.
Full-time graduate student:
- Are enrolled in a full-time graduate program;
- Pursue graduate studies as a full-time commitment;
- Regularly interact with faculty members and use University resources either virtually or in-person.
Demonstrating Academic Excellence:
- Students entering the 1st year of graduate studies must have achieved a first-class (equivalent to an "A-") average (as determined by the host institution) in the last two completed years of full-time study.
- Students entering the 2nd year or beyond must have an overall average of at least A- (or
- equivalent) on all graduate courses completed.
- Demonstrate financial need, as determined by 果酱视频, through submission of a (PDF file) Graduate Student Budget Form;
- A written statement (250 words) statement detailing the impact of raising young children under 12 years old while they pursue graduate studies and how this award would positively impact their educational journey and family goals.
