Congratulations to the Ted Rogers MBA team for placing second in Academics and fourth overall at this year鈥檚 MBA Games, Canada's largest annual competition for MBA students.  

The 2026 MBA Games, hosted by DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University in Hamilton from January 2 to 4, featured nine teams from across Canada competing in sports challenges, case competitions and numerous team spirit events. 

The Ted Rogers MBA team was made up of 22 students, with Dorin Kean and Cole Mercuur serving as co-captains. The team was fortunate to receive generous sponsorship from the insurance and investments company Co-operators to support their participation in the Games. 

In addition to the overall Academics ranking, the Ted Rogers MBA team placed first in several individual case competitions. In the Honotel Group case, which was judged by a panel that included Honotel鈥檚 hotel investors, the team鈥檚 solution was selected as the best. And in the 鈥渄ay-of鈥� RBC case, a judging panel of multiple RBC executives ranked the team鈥檚 solution as the most innovative. The team is also proud that Ted Rogers MBA student Arman Amin was the winner of the most spirited participant at the 2026 MBA Games.

"I am immensely proud of the Ted Rogers MBA team鈥檚 performance at this year鈥檚 MBA Games,鈥� says MBA Program Director Dr. Laleh Samarbakhsh, who served as the faculty coach for the team. 鈥淏eyond the academic excellence achieved, the event builds lasting friendships and strong networks among MBA students across Canada. Our school has shown consistent leadership and performance through dedication and teamwork, leaving a lasting legacy from the Games.鈥�

As part of the MBA Games, all participating teams raise funds to support a charity. This year鈥檚 selected charity was Career Trek, an organization that empowers youth from Indigenous, newcomer, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+ and low-income communities to explore careers they may never have been exposed to. The Ted Rogers MBA team fundraised $1,670 altogether to support the cause.
