Global AEM @torontomu.ca email replacements scheduled for Saturday, January 21

Category:University Renaming; Web CMS Google Group

January 16, 2023

Digital Publishing will be replacing all 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥 emails with 鈥淍torontomu.ca鈥 in AEM website content on Saturday, January 21, 2023 between 6 a.m and 4 p.m. AEM Author (both Production and Development) will not be available during this time.

This email outlines important information related to the replacement that should be reviewed before January 21:

  1. No exclusions to 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥 replacements
  2. Inventory content
  3. HTML snippets & locked pages
  4. Post-replacement verification

1. No exclusions to 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥 replacements

All 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥 emails will be replaced with 鈥淍torontomu.ca鈥. This includes emails in web page content (visible and source code) and asset properties (title, description). Only emails that end in 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥 will be replaced. If you have an email that contains a subdomain such as 鈥渘ame@ee.ryerson.ca鈥, it will not be replaced with 鈥淍torontomu.ca鈥. The global find and replace does not have any exclusion scenarios (except for HTML snippets & locked pages, see #3 below).

2. Inventory your relevant 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥 content

If you have instructional or FAQ information that includes 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥, the text will be changed to 鈥@torontomu.ca鈥 during the global replacement.  An example of this type of page content:

鈥淚 have a @ryerson.ca email account. What is going to happen to it now that the university has been renamed?鈥

For instances such as this where you need to retain 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥, we recommend creating an inventory of these pages ahead of the replacement, and then manually edit the email after January 21.

We have created a list of all pages and assets that contain instances of 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥. If you are unsure where 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥 is present in your content, feel free to review the following documents:

  1. Production content: Full list of webpages and assets that contain @torontomu.ca emails (> 28,000 pages)  (LINK REMOVED)
  2. Development content: Full list of webpages and assets that contain @torontomu.ca emails (LINK REMOVED)

3. HTML snippets & Locked pages

  • HTML snippet components containing 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥 must be manually updated by the site author.
  • Locked pages containing 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥 emails will be replaced with 鈥淍torontomu.ca鈥; however, the page will not be published with this change. Authors must unlock and publish these pages.

4.  Verifying page replacements

If you wish to verify that a replacement has been made, open your page, click the page information icon (1) and select 鈥淪ee Page Replacement History鈥 (2).

There may be some instances that require republishing from the AEM author environment. If you notice that a page does not have an updated 鈥淍ryerson.ca鈥 email address, check the page in AEM to verify the updated email. Then republish.

Thank you,

Digital Publishing, CCS
